UJUMP is a diverse program centered on empowering youth. By providing guidance, support, and a variety of learning experiences, your child has the opportunity to discover their purpose and envision new possibilities for their future.
Mr. Johnson visits each school in the program once a week, meeting with students individually and as a group. Discussions include school, studies, home life, and future plans for adulthood. Students write in a journal several times a week on different subjects. These entries are then verbally read by each student to help improve public speaking skills. Mr. Johnson works closely with school principals and teachers, monitoring each child’s grades and tracking their progress.
We go on field trips once a month, visiting local businesses, college and trade school campuses and professional sports facilities. We learn the behind-the-scenes workings of these facilities and the roles of their staff. Each field trip ends with a question and answer session, giving students the chance to learn about the host’s career path and how they achieved their goals.
